PARENTS/SUPPORTERS

ALL PARENT/SUPPORTERS MUST READ THE CODE OF CONDUCT BELOW BEFORE ENTERING THEIR CHILD IN THE WKL

The majority of those present at the WKL are children, all adults behaviour must reflect this.

The behaviour of adults, that we may witness at other sports is not what we expect at Karate competitions, and not at the WKL.

Karate is more than just a sport, and the Karate ideals of good character, sincerity, effort, etiquette and self control must be displayed.

Please demonstrate respectful behaviour and use correct and appropriate language at all time.

Encourage children to learn the rules and abide by them.

Set a good example by appreciating and applauding the performances from all, not only those in your club.

Graciously, accept the referees decision and encourage children to do the same.

IMPORTANT: Parents must never approach a referee or official.

YOUR CHILD OR YOUR CLUB MAY BE PENALISED/DISQUALIFIED IF YOU DO.

Only the official Coach may approach the officials, and only if they believe a rule has been broken.

PLEASE NOTE; Coaches cannot approach officials because they believe a point has/has not been scored correctly.

All parents must sit in the tiered seating, not around the areas, only official coaches may sit around the area as they may have several competitors taking part.

NOTE:

PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THE RULES ABOVE AND
ONLY ENTER YOUR CHILD IN THE WKL
IF YOU AGREE TO ABIDE BY THEM.

COACHES

ALL COACHES MUST READ THE CODE OF CONDUCT BELOW BEFORE ENTERING THEIR SQUAD IN THE WKL.

ALL OFFICIAL COACHES MUST WEAR THE COACHES PASS SUPPLIED.

ONLY OFFICIAL COACHES ARE ALLOWED ON THE COACHES CHAIRS ON THE TATAMI.

ALL OFFICIAL COACHES MUST WEAR TRACKSUIT OR TRACKSUIT TOP AND GI BOTTOMS.

All official coaches must be aware of, and practice the Karate ideals of good character, sincerity, effort, etiquette and self control.

Do not attempt to undermine the referees competence or attempt to influence their decisions.

Do not use referees hand signals or loudly comment on decisions made, remain seated (Do not jump up) and practice self control.

Remember the referee and judges:

  • Are closer to the action than coaches or spectators.

  • Are in the optimum position, as they are moving with the action.

  • Are not invested in either competitor.

  • Know the rules.

Appreciate the vast majority of referees only want the better competitor to win.

The majority of decisions are correct not just those in your students favour!

In the very small number of cases where the referees get it wrong… There’s a 50% chance the decision goes your way!

The only manner of complaint that the Tatami Chief or chief referee will listen to is administrative!

Your opinion of who scored, is simply that. Your opinion.

DO NOT APPROACH THE OFFICIALS REGARDING A POINT SCORED!

We are planning for there to be six areas at all WKL competitions this season. Coaches must move from area to area around (not across) the central space (in yellow below)

DO NOT TRESPASS ON THE CENTRAL AREA. THIS IS FOR OFFICIALS AND FIRST AID ONLY.

IF YOU BREACH THE ABOVE RULES, YOUR CLUB COULD BE PENALISED OR EVEN DISQUALIFIED
